About Amir Hedjazi, GCSE Maths Tutor in Hull
I’m Amir at Hull Maths Tutor. I have a maths degree, QTS, and 16 years’ secondary maths teaching experience helping students make sense of GCSE maths.
I support Foundation, Higher and post-16 resit students in Hull and online, with a calm diagnostic approach that starts from how the student is actually thinking.

How I work
I start by understanding the student behind the answer.
When a student gets a question wrong, the important part is often not the final answer. It is the line where confidence drops, a method is chosen too quickly, or one connection is missing.
My tutoring looks at real working, confidence, routine and topic gaps together. That makes support more specific than simply moving through another worksheet or reteaching a whole topic.
The aim is for students to understand what they already know, where the missing step sits, and what to practise next.

What support feels like
Calm explanations, visible working and clear next steps.
I work with students who feel anxious, stuck or frustrated by GCSE maths, including students around the Grade 3-5 boundary.
Some students need foundations rebuilt. Some know methods but do not choose them independently. Some need confidence and routine before their maths can show under exam conditions.
Tuition can begin with a Maths MOT & Action Plan, or with regular weekly support where the starting point is already clear.
- Clear explanations without judgement
- Focused practice, not random worksheets
- Confidence, routine and patience taken seriously
- Support shaped around Foundation or Higher tier
- Clear parent updates and practical next steps
- Online or in-person GCSE maths tuition where appropriate
