Some students can perform isolated skills but cannot connect them in a longer question. Others start correctly, then lose the final steps because the wording, layout or method choice becomes unclear.
Good GCSE support starts by finding the reason behind the grade, then building from the missing step instead of giving every student the same intervention.

A student might know the formula, understand the first line, or get the arithmetic right, but still lose the mark because one connection is missing.
The Missing Step approach slows that moment down. It finds the first uncertain decision, rebuilds it clearly, then practises it in different question types until the student can use it more independently.
That keeps support personal. It avoids assuming that every Grade 3, 4 or 5 student needs the same topic list or the same pace.

The Maths MOT & Action Plan is a relaxed diagnostic first step. It helps identify strengths, gaps, confidence blockers and the next actions that make sense for your child.
It is useful when a grade gives you a rough position, but not a clear explanation of what is going wrong.
